Any fears that Ray Galton and Alan Simpson might have had of their seminal comedy series losing its impact with the advert of colour television (although only two colour episodes survived), were well and ruley dispelled by the time this series went out in the closing months of 1970. The series was more popular than ever and the writing reached new heights as evidenced here is classic episodes like Come Dancing and Tea for Two.
Robbery With Violence:
When Albert accidentally knocks over Harold's collection of porcelain, he pretends that the house has been burgled. Then Harold calls in the police...
Come Dancing:
Although his new bird is mad keen on ballroom dancing, Harold has two left feet. Fortunately, a former master of the light fantastic is only a few quicksteps away.
Two's Company:
Albert brings home his fiancee, a widow he met at the Darby and Joan. Far from being the "old boiler " Harold is expecting, she turns out to be a face from the past....
Tea For Two:
The Labour Party Secretary for Shepard's Bush West - Harold - is shocked to discover his father has invited Tory leader, Ted Heath, to afternoon tea.
Without Prejudice:
Harold is desperate to move from Oil Drum Lane to a more salubrious part of the town. However, their new neighbours aren't too welcoming...
Pot Black:
Harold's lofty ambitions lead him to install a full size snooker table in the front room. But guess who turns out to be a dab hand with the cue?
The Three Feathers:
Harold's foray into the antiques trade seems to have paid off when he buys a 19th Century commode for just seven pounds ten.
Cuckoo In The Nest:
Harold's always been an only child, right Or so we thought until Albert's long lost Australian son turns up out of the blue....
