A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, Real Steel, stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring.
Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goya) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

Onverwacht goed!
Aardige, vlotte film. Entertainment op en top waarbij de moeizame relatie tussen vader en zoon als een rode draad door de film loopt. Er zijn paralellen met "Rocky" en "Over the top" te ontdekken al is de setting natuurlijk totaal anders. Leuk gebracht en vooral interessant voor een jong publiek. Al zullen volwassenen die van fantastische films houden (avontuur met een vleugje sci-fi en een snufje drama) deze film ook waarderen. Op bluray ziet het er allemaal prachtig uit natuurlijk. Met de audio zit het ook snor. Waanzinnig DTS 7.1 track! (Audio English, French 7.1 en Russian, Ukrainian 5.1) De extra's zijn niet talrijk maar het gaat hier om de Single Disc versie. Voor een prijs waar je 'm zeker niet voor kan laten liggen!!!

Hugh Jackman speelt, zoals gewoonlijk, weer geweldig. Film opbouw is goed, verhaal is goed, eind is goed. Een echte aanrader!!!!
